Brighton Backyard
A new homeowner wished to remake the backyard for livability, play space, and with wild corners to help support local ecology. More formal plantings around the patio help define the space, and an existing perennial border was reworked with the addition of native grasses and flowers. A wild area in the back includes a meadow with pollinator friendly perennials, flowering trees, and keystone forest tree species. The perennial border and patio plants were chosen with an eye to aesthetics, while the wild area plants were chosen for their value for birds and bugs.
